Everything you want to know about the strongest plant: the Anthurium
Looking for the strongest plant that blooms all year round? Although they might look high-maintenance, Anthuriums actually have very simple care requirements. And they flower several times a year. This makes it the ideal plant for people without a green thumb!
The strongest plant: the Anthurium
The genus Anthurium derives from the Greek ‘Anthos’ and ‘Oura’. The literal translation of this is ‘flowering tail’. The name is appropriate because of the inflorescence. This consists of a bract and the spadix, on which the flowers are located.
Anthuriums bloom all year round
Has your Anthurium finished flowering? Then don’t throw it away! Because with proper care, this plant produces new flowers all year round. Usually, there are cycles of three months of flowering, a few months of no flowering and then another three months of flowering. If the plant has shiny foliage and produces new flowers, you can assume it is in favourable conditions and will bloom for many years.

Anthurium plant care tips
The Anthurium is very easy to care for: it needs little to remain beautiful for years. But there are a few Anthurium plant care tips that we’d like to share so that you can enjoy your plant even longer. In the winter period, the Anthurium plant should be watered once a week. In the summer, it can be watered more frequently, but twice a week should be enough. But always check the potting compost first. If Anthuriums are watered too often, they become waterlogged. This can cause the roots to rot. So, use well-draining compost and water your plant only when the compost feels fairly dry. Do you want to pamper your plant? Occasionally spray it with a plant spray, so it imagines it in the tropics.
