After a summer of open windows, light fabrics and seasonal accessories, your home might be ready for a little refresh as autumn approaches. There’s no need to completely overhaul your interior, though. A few thoughtful changes and a beautiful Anthurium can make all the difference.

Make room for the new season

The end of summer is the perfect time to take a fresh look at your interior. Accessories that have seen better days, things you never really use and pieces that no longer feel like you can all make way for something new. You don’t need lots of new things either – a handful of carefully chosen pieces can have much more impact than a room full of accessories.

Bring a touch of summer indoors

Just because autumn is around the corner doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to lighter colours straight away. Combining soft, summery shades with warmer materials is an easy way to give your home a seasonal update. Think white or beige linen cushions, a wooden bowl, ceramic accessories and an Anthurium in a pot that complements the rest of your interior.

A white Anthurium, for example, works beautifully in a calm, light interior. Prefer a little more colour? Choose a pink, red or orange-pink Anthurium and subtly bring that colour back elsewhere, such as in a cushion, vase or piece of artwork.

Give your favourite corner a new look

You don’t need to give your entire home a makeover. Instead, choose one corner that could do with a little attention. It could be a windowsill, side table, open shelving or a sideboard. Clear everything away first and take a fresh look at the space. Which pieces do you still love, and which can go back in the cupboard for a while?

Next, place your Anthurium(s) in a prominent spot and style the rest around them. Play with different heights and materials – for example, pair a houseplant in a ceramic pot with a wooden object and a favourite book. It’s a simple way to give the space a new feel without making it look overly styled.

Caring for Anthuriums in autumn

Your Anthuriums could use a little attention at this time of year, too. Check whether they’re still in a suitable spot and move them if needed. Anthuriums enjoy plenty of daylight, but don’t like direct sunlight. As the days gradually get shorter, you may need to move your plant a little closer to a window to make the most of the available light.
