Every year, the Green Sector Trends are compiled by the Plants & Flowers Foundation Holland (formerly the Flower Council of Holland), in collaboration with Tuinbranche Nederland, iBulb, INretail and Bureau Nijman + Van Haaster. These represent the key style trends for the floriculture sector, focusing on flowers, houseplants and garden plants. In this article, we explore the Intriguing Decor trend, which revolves around warmth, friendliness and connection.

Intriguing Decor

In a world that can sometimes feel harsh and distant, there is a growing desire for interiors that radiate softness, security and humanity. Plants and flowers play a connecting role in this. They create a welcoming atmosphere and bring harmony into the home. Intriguing Decor is all about crafting a friendly, inviting environment. Soft shapes, warm earthy tones and natural materials take centre stage. Think of furniture with rounded lines, ceramics with a handmade character, and textures that exude calm and warmth.

The core values of this trend are: softness, warmth, humanity, authenticity, connection, sustainability and meaning.

Intriguing Decor in the Interior

In an Intriguing Decor interior, plants harmoniously complement the furniture and the space. So, no freestanding “green objects”, but plants that are integrated into the space itself:

• Green walls, plant arches or built-in planters;
• Moreover, furniture with hollow spaces designed for plants;
• And modular pots and systems that are easy to adapt.

Layering plays an important role in styling. For instance, combining large statement plants with smaller accent plants. In addition, fine-leaved varieties create a soft, rich composition. Anthuriums also have a natural place within this trend. Thanks to their elegant flowers and sleek yet friendly leaf shape, they subtly complement the whole. Moreover, cut Anthuriums can serve as a connecting element between foliage textures and floral accents in arrangements.

Colour Palette

The colour palette features many naturally complementing shades such as sand tones, terracotta, moss green and off-white. These form the perfect backdrop for plants with lush foliage or subtle blooms. Matt materials and natural textures create an inviting atmosphere that brings balance to the interior. Plants with fresh or deep green leaves enhance this sense of tranquillity and add vibrancy to the soft, serene whole.
